In a smaller to mid-sized company with a one owner model, once you hit the ceiling, without profit share or promise of directorship, there isn’t much holding you there apart from loyalty.
Whilst you might have the perks of autonomy and fairly free reign to implement your own ways of doing things, you are capped at what you can achieve beyond this.
As a larger consultancy with multiple offices around Sydney, there is so much room to grow within the ranks. They are looking to move into a sector leader model and create new roles around technical excellence, almost like a key technical director for each area of expertise.
They are also continuing to expand their offering and acquiring new businesses to do so. More recently acquiring a construction company in order to provide a full EPCM style service. So there are plenty of choices and directions you could take. They don’t like to cap potential and happy to sit down and discuss career aspirations from the outset to make it clear which direction you want to take and put the right measures in place to get you there.
They make a point of being fairly selective in the Engineers they employ, they don’t like their quality of offering to be dragged down so the pick of Engineers to work with on projects you will run will be the best of the best in the market.
Urban development major projects, include; planning proposal for Airport redevelopment around 350Ha, Planning proposal for Lands Redevelopment out West around 460Ha, residential estate for Stockland over 3000 lots worth $500M.
Bonuses based on KPI’s, at this level you would be expected to bring in around $750K in fees per annum in your first year. This will be supported by the Business Development Manager for your section who you will work closely with in terms of broader company marketing and retainer clients.
Requires; Civil Engineering Degree and at least 10years experience in the civil consulting space in Sydney.
